I was wondering how long it would take for your newspaper to degenerate into a journalistic rag. Well, that extremely distasteful cartoon by Callahan did the trick. His portrayal of the dog and jackass and the two hardhat <sic> characters along with the quote "Look at the ass on that bitch" certainly was an offensive, veiled expression often used to describe women.

Decent and sensitive women - including Callahan's mother, sister, daughter, wife- deplore this kind of degradation. If the cartoon's meaning was supposed to be a covert, satirical joke, it was not, because the intent bled through.
