It is shocking that a progressive newspaper such as your would publish Callahan's insensitive "Slanta Claus" cartoon (December 24). Cartoons of this nature which ridicule ethnic traits engender the kind of hate that too often leads to racist violence. It is beneath your publication to exacerbate the racial strife in Los Angeles
